UMW Volleyball Sweeps Catholic on Wednesday Night

The University of Mary Washington jumped on top early and never let up in a 3-0 victory at Catholic University on Wednesday night in Washington, D.C. The Eagles improve to 5-3 on the season.

The Eagles took game one, 25-17, against their old Capital Athletic Conference rival, and followed with a 25-20 victory in game two. UMW cloed out the third game and match with a 25-17 win.

Senior hitter Krista Rodgers led the Eagles with 14 kills against one error in 24 attempts, while sophomore Chloe Crosen and junior Jordan Lyons each added eight kills. Sophomore Lauren Foley paced the Eagles with 24 assists, with junior Brenna Campbell adding 12, and junior Dakota Hansen scored a team-high 19 digs. 

Lyons added 17 digs, Rodgers posted three solo blocks and one block assist, and Sarah Moore scored seven kills and three service aces.

The Eagles will return to action on Friday evening, as they host Stevenson University at 6:00 p.m.
