UMW Volleyball Splits with #24 Ithaca, DeSales on Friday Evening

The University of Mary Washington volleyball team split with twenty-fourth ranked Ithaca College and DeSales University on Friday evening in Selinsgrove, PA. The Eagles fell to Ithaca, 3-2, before defeating DeSales, 3-1. The Eagles are now 5-6 overall on the season.

In the first match, Ithaca got out to a 1-0 lead as they took the first set 25-20. UMW then took the lead 2-1 after winning the next two sets 25-23. Ithaca won the fourth set 25-12, and then came out on top 15-13 in the fifth set. 

Savannah Powers led the Eagles with 16 kills, while hitting .278. Peyton Dunow chipped in 15 kills of her own. Krista Rodgers had nine kills and Tenley Hares accounted for eight kills. Wren Berry dished out 45 assists in the match and had nine digs. Kendal Hall led the way with 19 digs, while Maya Takashima had 11 digs. Lexie Hendricks accounted for eight blocks. 

UMW defeated DeSales 3-1 in the nightcap. More details will be provided.

The Eagles will be back in action tomorrow as they will take on Mount Union at 11 a.m. and then play #25 Heidelberg at 1 p.m. in Selinsgrove, PA.
