Cho Records 1,000th Career Dig in 3-0 Win Over Catholic on Tuesday

Senior Ryan Cho of the University of Mary Washington recorded her 1,000th career dig in a 3-0 win over Catholic University of America on Tuesday Night in Washington, D.C. The Eagles improve to 11-8 on the season. 

Catholic jumped out to an early 4-1 lead in the first set. The Eagles got right back in the game as they came back and tied the game 5-5 on a service ace from Cho. UMW took a 13-8 advantage as they recorded three straight kills, one each from Tenley Hares, Alana Harris, and Walters. Savannah Powers put down her third kill of the game on an assist from Kendal Hall to give UMW an 18-11 lead. Harris put away a kill and sealed the first set for UMW, 25-13.

Harris began serving in the second set and the Eagles won the first three points. The Cardinals fought back and took a 5-4 lead on an error. Junior Peyton Dunow got in on the action as she recorded two straight kills and put the Eagles up 10-6. UMW grew their lead to 19-12 on a service ace from Hares, her second of the night. The Eagles only gave up three points from there and Dunow closed out the second set on a kill from Hall to win 25-15.

In the third set, Powers got things started as she recorded a kill for the Eagles. Hares then served for UMW and picked up two more service aces, pushing her total to four. After that 3-0 start, Catholic got back into the set as they tied the game up at 9 a piece. The Eagles then went on a 5-0 run, to take a 14-9 lead. Powers kept the Eagles on top by five, 17-12, as she recorded a kill from Hall. From there, UMW stayed on top and used an error on the last point to secure a 25-18 third set victory.

UMW hit an impressive .364 in the match. Powers led the way with 14 kills on a .385 hitting percentage, while also recording 15 digs. Dunow had nine kills to go along with 14 digs. Harris had nine kills to zero errors on the night. Hall dished out 39 assists and registered eight digs. Cho finished the game with 15 digs, giving her 1,005 in her career. 

The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday as they will travel to York for a CAC matchup at 2 p.m.
