UMW Volleyball Tops #8 Ithaca, Falls to Ohio Northern on Saturday at Wittenberg Invite

The University of Mary Washington volleyball team split a pair of matches at the Wittenberg University Invitational on Saturday, defeating eighth-ranked Ithaca College, 3-2, before falling in three games to Ohio Northern. UMW stands at 7-4 on the season after the weekend's events.

UMW topped Ithaca, 25-18, 21-25, 24-26, 25-22, 15-6. Junior Savannah Powers led three Eagles with double digit kills, with 13, while Leslie Walters and Peyton Dunow each had 10. Wren Berry scored 21 assists while Kendal Hall posted 14, and senior Ryan Cho led the way with 23 digs, with Berry scoring 15, Hall 13, and Powers 11. 

Freshman Alana Harris scored seven total blocks as well as four service aces.

Ohio Northern then topped UMW, 25-11, 25-19, 25-22. Dunow led with nne kills and Walters added eight offensively for UMW, while Cho registerd 18 digs. Berry and Hall each had 10 assists, with Cho adding seven. 

The Eagles will return to action on Wednesday when they host Frostburg State University at 7 p.m. in the Capital Athletic Conference opener.
