UMW Volleyball Tops York, 3-1, on Saturday; Gains 2nd Seed in CAC Tournament

The University of Mary Washington volleyball team closed the regular season with a 3-1 victory at York College of Pa. on Saturday in Capital Athletic Conference action. Game scores were 25-16, 25-20, 23-25, 25-12. The Eagles enter the postseason with an 18-9 record.

In a balanced attack on Saturday, sophomore Peyton Dunow led with 13 kills, while freshman Tenley Hares scored 12, sophomore Savannah Powers 11, and junior Leslie Walters 10. Freshman Wren Berry had 27 assists and sophomore Kendal Hall added 17, and also had six service aces. Senior Jenna Yost scored 21 digs, with Dunow adding 17, and Mackenzie Brewer posted 13. Hares had two solo blocks and two block assists.

UMW will advance to the CAC Tournament semifinals on Thursday, and play the winner of third seeded Southern Virginia and sixth seeded Marymount, who will square off in first round action on Tuesday. Thursday's semifinal will start at 7 p.m.
