UMW Volleyball Splits with Washington & Lee, Va. Wesleyan

The University of Mary Washington volleyball team split a trimatch with Washington and Lee University at Virginia Wesleyan College on Saturday. The Eagles fell in three games to W&L before topping the hosts in four.

In a rematch of a match several weeks ago, this time the Generals took the victory, winning 25-22, 25-17, 25-19. Savannah Powers led UMW with 12 kills, while Skyler Sisk and Tenley Hares each had six. Wren Berry provided 27 assists, and Jenna Yost scored 23 digs, with Mackenzie Brewer adding 17 and Ryan Cho 13. Emma Meek had two solo blocks and two block assists.

UMW then rebounded to top Va. Wesleyan, 11-25, 25-18, 25-21, 27-25. Powers had 16 kills, while Hares had 13 and Leslie Walters 10 for UMW, while Berry posted 46 assists, Yost scored 17 digs and Brewer 13, with Walters picking up 14 digs in victory.

UMW will return to action on Wednesday when they visit Gallaudet University at 7:00 p.m. in a non conference matchup.
