UMW Volleyball Falls to Averett, Susquehanna in Saturday Action at UMW Invitational

The seventh ranked University of Mary Washington volleyball team dropped two matches on Saturday at the UMW Invitational. The Eagles fell to Averett University 3-1, before dropping their second decision to Susquehanna University, 3-1. The Eagles slip to 4-5 on the season.

The Eagles lost 25-19, 25-22, 20-25, 25-18 in the first match to Averett.  Sophomore Savannah Powers led the Eagles with 12 kills, while freshman Brittney Dintaman had 11 kills with one error on 27 attempts. Freshman Wren Berry contributed 27 assists, while Sophomore Kendal Hall added 13 assists to go along with three service aces. Senior Jenna Yost led the way with 19 digs. The Eagles totaled 46 kills against 19 errors, 45 assists, 62 digs, and six service aces.

In the second match of the day, the Eagles fell 25-21, 23-25, 25-18, 25-23 to Susquehanna University. Powers led the way for the second straight match with 23 kills to go along with nine digs. Sophomore Peyton Dunow contributed 11 kills with two errors on 20 attempts, and freshman Tenley Hares added nine kills. Berry led the way in the assist department with 37, while Hall posted 13. Yost totaled 12 digs, while Dinatman, Hall and Berry all contributed eight digs a piece. The Eagles had 57 kills against 19 errors, 55 assists, 62 digs, and six service aces.

The Eagles will be back on action Friday night as they travel to Ithaca University for a match at 7:00 p.m.
