#7 UMW Volleyball Falls to Randolph-Macon, 3-1, in Home Opener

In a rematch of last year's NCAA Tournament second round, the seventh ranked University of Mary Washington volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to visiting Randolph-Macon College on Wednesday night at Rosner Arena. The Eagles slip to 4-1 on the season; game scores were 20-25, 25-13, 25-23, 25-16.

The Eagles jumped ahead with a 25-20 win in game one, but the Yellow Jackets responded by taking the second, 25-13, hitting .294 while limiting the Eagles to seven kills and seven errors. In the third, the Eagles challenged well but the guests prevailed by a 25-23 score. In the fourth, RMC hit .417 to prevail, 25-16.

The Eagles were led by sophomore Savannah Powers' 12 kills and sophomore Peyton Dunow's 11. Senior Jenna Yost provided 12 digs to lead the team, and freshman Wren Berry posting 28 assists.

Mary Washington will return to action on Friday when they host a six-team tournament. The Eagles will face Johns Hopkins University at 3 pm and Berry College at 7:30 p.m.
