#10 UMW Volleyball Tops Stevens, Haverford on Sunday to Improve to 4-0

The 10th ranked University of Mary Washington volleyball team continued its early season success on Sunday, defeating Stevens Institute and Haverford College at Haverford's season-opening tournament. UMW defeated Stevens in four games and Haverford in three.

The Eagles opened the day with a 3-1 win over Stevens, who received votes in the preseason national poll. Game scores were 25-21, 25-27, 25-19, 25-17.

Sophomore Peyton Dunow led the Eagles with 12 kills to go with 13 digs, while junior Leslie Walters had 10 kills against just one error in 19 attempts, and sophomore Savannah Powers scored 10 kills.

Freshman Wren Berry had 44 assists and 10 digs, senior Jenna Yost added 19 digs, and senior Ryan Cho posted nine digs and four aces.

UMW then defeated Haverford in the final match of the event, winning in three sets, 25-14, 25-22, 25-17. Dunow again led the Eagles with 11 kills and six service aces, while Powers added 10 kills. Sophomore Skyler Sisk added nine kills against one error. Berry posted 34 assists, and Yost scored 19 digs to lead UMW.

The Eagles will return to action on Wednesday when they host Randolph-Macon College at Rosner Arena at 7 p.m.
