The 10th ranked University of Mary Washington volleyball team opened the 2017 season with a 3-0 win over John Carroll University on Saturday afternoon at the Haverford College Invitational. Game scores were 25-16, 25-22, 25-19.

Junior Leslie Walters led the Eagles with 13 kills against three errors in 21 attempts, while sophomore Peyton Dunow added 10 kills against three errors in 21 attempts. Freshman Tenley Hares scored nine kills against two errors in 18 tries.

Sophomore Savannah Powers posted seven kills, while freshman Wren Berry and sophomore Kendal Hall each had four service aces. Berry led the way with 42 assists, and senior Jenna Yost provided 17 digs. Senior Ryan Cho had nine digs, and Powers added eight for UMW.
