#14 UMW Volleyball Sweeps Bridgewater on Wednesday Night; Improves to 23-2

The 14th ranked University of Mary Washington volleyball team, who earlier in the day found it was ranked first in the first NCAA regional ranking, defeated Bridgewater College on the road, 25-18, 25-18, 27-25, on Wednesday night in nonconference play. The Eagles improve to 23-2 on the season.

UMW was led freshman Savannah Powers, who had a team-high 12 kills to go with 10 digs, and senior Emma Olson, who added three kills, 36 assists, two block assists, and nine digs. Sophomore Leslie Walters recorded seven kills, three aces, and three total blocks, and junior Jenna Yost added 13 digs.

The Eagles hit .224 on the evening, with 43 kills against 17 errors in 116 attempts. Bridgewater hit .115 with 35 kills against 22 errors in 113 attempts. UMW had four aces to two for Bridgewater, and Bridgewater held a 48-47 edge in digs.

The Eagles will be back in action at home on Friday night at 7 p.m. when they host Penn State Harrisburg for senior night in a Capital Athletic Conference matchup.
