The 16th ranked University of Mary Washington volleyball team overcame a 19-11 deficit in the first game to win 29-27, and rolled on to defeat Salisbury University, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon at Rosner Arena to improve to 20-1 on the season, and 4-0 in Capital Athletic Conference action.

In the first, the Sea Gulls charged out to a 5-0 lead, and held a 14-11 lead before notching five straight points to gain a 19-11 advantage. UMW stormed back with 11 of the next 13 points to take the lead for the first time at 22-21. After some intense back and forth play, UMW came away with a 29-27 victory. The momentum carried over for the Eagles, as UMW won game two, 25-9, and the third, 25-18.

Freshman Savannah Powers once again led the way for the Eagles, scoring 14 kills against two errors and nine digs. Freshman Peyton Dunow had 11 kills against two errors and added 11 digs, and sophomore Leslie Walters added nine kills against two errors with six digs and three total blocks.

Senior Emma Olson had 37 assists and seven digs, and sophomore Ryan Cho added 12 digs and four service aces.

The Eagles' 20-1 record marks the second time in program history that the Eagles have reached that plateau, matching the start of the 1991 team that advanced to the NCAA Tournament en route to a 31-3 season.

UMW will be back in action on Wednesday night when they host Gallaudet University at 7 p.m.
