#22 UMW Volleyball Edges Lynchburg in Five Games to Improve to 11-1

The 22nd ranked University of Mary Washington volleyball team overcame a 2-1 game deficit to defeat Lynchburg College, 3-2, on Wednesday night in Lynchburg. The Eagles improve to 11-1 on the season.

The Hornets edged the Eagles, 25-23, in the first, before UMW responded with a 25-13 win in game two. Lynchburg answered by winning the third, 25-22, but the Eagles won the fourth, 25-23, and pulled ahead early and never looked back in a 15-11 win in the fifth.

Sophomore Leslie Walters led the Eagles with 14 kills against three errors in 22 attempts, and also added seven digs and three total blocks, while freshman Savannah Powers had 14 kills, nine digs, and three assists. Junior Rachel Hendricks added 13 kills, and senior Emma Olson scored 50 assists and 11 digs. Freshman Skyler Sisk added eight kills for UMW

The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday at the Stockton University Invitational, facing Widener University at 2 p.m. and Haverford College at 4 p.m.
