#21 UMW Volleyball Splits Friday Set at #9 Emory University

The 21st ranked University of Mary Washington volleyball team dropped its opener at ninth-ranked Emory University, but bounced back to top Maryville College, 3-0, on Friday night in Atlanta, Ga. The Eagles move to 8-1 on the season.

UMW tasted defeat for the first time this season in a 3-0 loss to the hosts. Game scores were 25-18, 25-14, 25-15. Junior hitter Rachel Hendricks led the Eagles with six kills against one errorwhile Leslie Walters, Savannah Powers, and Skyler Sisk all had four kills.

Senior Emma Olson had 11 digs and 18 assists, and junior Jenna Yost had 14 digs to lead the team.

UMW responded with a 3-0 win over Maryville College. Game scores were 25-13, 25-21, 25-17. Hendricks continued her stellar play with a team-high 11 kills against two errors in 21 attempts. Freshman Peyton Dunow had 10 kills, with Walters adding eight kills and Powers seven.

Walters had a season-high five aces, and Olson posted 22 assists. Dunow had 13 digs and Yost 11.

The Eagles will continue at Emory's tournament on Saturday as they face Piedmont College at 10 a.m.
