UMW Volleyball Falls at Salisbury, 3-1, in CAC Semifinals on Thursday Night

The University of Mary Washington volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision at Salisbury University in the semifinals of the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament on Thursday evening. Game scores were 25-23, 23-25, 25-21, 25-23.

The Eagles fell behind early in each set, only to scratch back on each occasion. UMW was led by sophomore Rachel Hendricks' 18 kills, while freshman Leslie Walters had 11 kills and senior Emma Murphy nine.

Junior Emma Olson had 34 assists, five kills, 10 digs, and seven total blocks. Sophomore Jenna Yost had 24 digs, while freshman Ryan Cho added 12 digs. Megan Payne had six total blocks and Murphy five for UMW.

Salisbury was led by Katie Stouffer's 21 kills. They will advance to the CAC Championship on Saturday.

The Eagles, 23-7 on the season, will now await a possible at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Eagles' 23 wins is their most since 1995, and their 23-7 record is the program's best since 1992 (30-10).
