The University of Mary Washington volleyball team defeated Frostburg State University, 3-1, on Tuesday night at the Anderson Center in the first round of the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament. Game scores were 25-19, 18-25, 25-18, 25-19.

"Any time you can come out of a CAC Tournament match with a win, it's a good day", said UMW head coach Matt Troy. "The tournament brings out the best in everybody. Frostburg did a great job, and fought hard. I was pleased with our mentality, after the second set, of turning it around. If we can keep that mentality, I hope it will lead to consistent play moving forward."

The Eagles were led by sophomore Rachel Hendricks' 16 kills, while senior Emma Murphy had 10 kills and freshman Leslie Walters nine. Junior Emma Olson had five kills, 39 assists, and eight digs, and Caroline Porco had 18 digs and three service aces. Jenna Yost sported 17 digs, and Ryan Cho had 11.

Senior Megan Payne had six blocks for the Eagles, who will visit second-seeded Salisbury University on Thursday night in the CAC Semifinals at 7 p.m. The 23-6 Eagles will look to avenge one of their regular season losses, as the Eagles fell at Salisbury, 3-1, in the teams' first meeting.
