UMW Volleyball Blanks Wesley, 3-0, in CAC Opener on Friday Night

The University of Mary Washington volleyball team battled a tough Wesley College on Friday night in both teams' Capital Athletic Conference opener, with the Eagles withstanding an early charge to top the Wolverines, 3-0, on Friday night in Dover, Del. The Eagles improve to 12-3 on the season, and run their win streak to five. Game scores were 25-22, 25-16, 25-14.

The Eagles were led by sophomore Rachel Hendricks' 17 kills and .448 hitting average, while junior Emma Olson added 11 kills, 23 assists, and 10 digs for the triple-double. Eve Williamson had 19 assists, and senior Emma Murphy added seven kills without an error.

UMW hit .389 for the match (49 kills/14 errors/90 attempts), including a sterling .444 in the first game (15/3/27).

Mary Washington will return to action on Saturday when they face Eastern University in St. David's, Pa. at 11 a.m., followed by Rowan University at 1:00 p.m.
