UMW Volleyball Tops Gallaudet, 3-1, on Tuesday Night to Improve to 11-3

The University of Mary Washingotn volleyball team bounced back after dropping the first game to defeat Gallaudet University, 3-1, on Tuesday night in Washington, D.C. The Eagles, winners of four straight, improve to 11-3 on the season.

The Eagles struggled at the outset, falling 25-20 in the first game, and hitting .000 for the game with eight kills and eight errors. UMW rebounded to win the next three games, 25-19, 25-15, 25-17. The Eagles hit an impressive .579 in the third game, with 12 kills and one error in 19 attempts, and had 14 kills with just one error in the fourth.

Sophomore Rachel Hendricks had 13 kills to lead UMW, while junior Emma Olson had 12 kills against just one error, as well as 24 assists and 12 digs. Senior Emma Murphy had 11 kills against two errors, with four block assists.

Eve Williamson added 15 assists for UMW, while Jenna Yost had 17 digs.

The Eagles will be back in action on Friday when they visit Wesley College at 7:00 p.m. in the Capital Athletic Conference opener.
