UMW Volleyball Tops NC Wesleyan, 3-1, on Wednesday Night

The University of Mary Washington volleyball team jumped out to an early lead, and held on for a 3-1 victory over visiting North Carolina Wesleyan College on Wednesday night at the Anderson Center. The Eagles improve to 5-1 on the season.

Game scores were 25-20, 22-25, 25-13, 28-26. The Eagles stormed back from a 21-18 deficit in the fourth to knot the score at 25, before winning, 28-26, to clinch the match.

The Eagles were led by sophomore Dani Fiore's 16 kills, while senior Emma Murphy scored 14 and freshman Leslie Walters added 10. Junior Emma Olson had 55 assists, six kills, and 12 digs, while Jenna Yost scored 18 digs.

The Eagles will be back in action on Friday when they visit Juniata College for matches with Stevens Institute at 6 pm and Clarkson at 8 p.m.
