UMW Volleyball Falls to #8 Juniata, 25-17, 25-21, 25-23, on Friday Night

The University of Mary Washington volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to eighth-ranked Juniata College on Friday night at the Anderson Center. The Eagles fall to 12-7 on the season.

UMW fell behind early in the first set, and was unable to catch up, but responded with a strong start in set two. Juniata was able to pull away at the end to up their margin to two sets to one. In the third, UMW held the lead for much of the set, but with the score tied at 23, the visitors stormed for two straight points to take the match in three.

Freshman Dani Fiore led the Eagles with nine kills, while Rachel Hendricks added seven kills, six digs, and three aces. Emma Olson had 15 assists, and Caroline Porco and Jenna Yost each had 11 digs.

Mary Washington will be right back in action on Saturday as they visit York College of Pa. for a 1 p.m. Capital Athletic Conference match, followed by a 3 p.m. non-league match against Penn State Altoona.
