Fredericksburg, Va.-- The University of Mary Washington women's volleyball team downed the Bobcats 3-0 in the first round of the CAC Tournament on Tuesday. The Eagles used a .367 attack percentage to knock of Frostburg.

In the opening frame, the Eagles jumped out of the gates, with an 8-2 advantage. The run forced the Bobcats to call a timeout. UMW expanded the lead to 16-7 midway through the game, and then went on a 5-0 run to lead 21-8. The team won four of the next seven points to put away game one, 25-11, ended on an Emma Olson (Oakton, Va./Oakton) kill. 

Game two saw the same fast start as game one. The Eagles went up 5-0, then increased it to 9-1 forcing another Frostburg timeout. The timeout helped the Bobcats, as they climbed back into the game, cutting the Eagle lead to 18-10. UMW rattled off three straight points to force a second Frostburg timeout. The Eagles closed out game two 25-11.

The final stanza saw a close contest six points, with the Eagles taking a slim lead at 6-4 before head coach Matt Troy called a timout. Troy's timeout proved to be advantageous, as the Eagles jumped out ahead 15-5. From there, the Eagles would only give up four more points, winning game three and the match 25-9. 

UMW was lead by junior Kayla Crawford (Richmond, Va./Powhatan) and her team high 11 kills. Crawford finished with an attack percentage of .421. Alexis Cummings (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) added nine kills along with six digs, and Emma Olson added 25 assists for the victors. Olson went a perfect 4-4 on attacks on the evening. 

The Eagles will face Salisbury in the semifinal round of the CAC Tournament on Thursday, November 7th. The match with the Sea Gulls begins at 7:00 p.m.
