Women's Volleyball Splits Matches at Penn St. Harrisburg on Saturday

Middletown, Pa.-- The University of Mary Washington women's volleyball team split their final two matches of the season on Saturday. The Eagles toped Penn St. Harrisburg 3-0, before falling to Susquehana 3-2 in the nightcap.

The match with the Lions only needed three games for the Eagles to pick up the victory. Game scores against the Lions were; 25-9, 25-18, 25-19. The Eagles were led by Alexis Cummings who posted 15 kills in the match. Cummings also chipped in four service aces for the winners. Junior Kayla Crawford added six kills, while Megan Payne had five for the Eagles. Courtney Guengerich provided 32 assists against the Lions, and Caroline Porco added 15 digs.

UMW faced a very tough Susquehana squad following the match with Penn St. Harrisburg. The Eagles fell in five sets, 3-2. Game scores against Susquehana were; 17-25, 25-14, 12-25, 25-22, 11-15. Cummings continued her big day, adding 13 kills in the nightcap, while Kaitlynn Wickersham had nine kills herself. Freshman Emma Olson led the Eagles with 30 assists and 14 digs. Caroline Porco had six service aces and ten digs for UMW.

The Eagles return to action on Tuesday, November 7th. The team hosts the first round of the CAC Conference Tournament. Their opponent has yet to be determined, and the match will begin at 7:00 p.m. from the Anderson Center.
