Eagles Down Wesley, 3-0 on Wednesday Night

Dover, Del-- The University of Mary Washington women's volleyball team defeated Wesley 3-0 on Wednesday.  The Eagles blocked 13 shots en route to the victory. With the win, UMW improves to 14-8 overall and 4-1 in CAC play.

Game one saw the Eagles jump ahead early to an 8-3 lead, thanks in part to a few Victoria Howell service aces and Kayla Crawford kills. From there, the Eagles took command and never looked back, as they would go on to win game one 25-19.

In the second stanza, the Eagles and Wolverines exchanged points, with each team exchanging the lead. Wesley took an early 13-10 lead, before Mary Washington fought back and took a lead of their own at 14-13. The Wolverines battled back to force an Eagle timeout at 19-16 Wesley. However it wasn't enough as the Eagles went on a 9-3 run to close out game two, winning 25-22. The final game saw Mary Washington dominate early. The Eagles jumped out 13-7 forcing a Wesley timeout. From there it was all Eagles. UMW only gave up seven more points to close out the match, 25-14.

The Eagles were led by Kayla Crawford and her 15 kills. She finished with a hitting percentage of .355. Kaitlynn Wickersham and Alexis Cummings each added eight and seven kills respectively. Courtney Guengerich added 34 assists and ten digs for the winners.
