Eagles Fly Past Frostburg State, 3-0, on Wednesday

Frostburg, Md-- The University of Mary Washington women's volleyball team defeated Frostburg State 3-0 on Wednesday evening in Maryland. The Eagles dominated the contest from start to finish. The win moves Mary Washington to 10-6 overall and 2-0 in CAC play.

In game one, the Eagles got out to an early start, before the Bobcats rallied back to make it close. UMW pulled away late and won game one 25-17. The Eagles had 10 kills in the game to put away the Bobcats.

Game two saw the Eagles explode offensively. The Eagles dominated from beginning to end, putting away the Bobcats 25-10. UMW had 16 kills and a .448 attack percentage in the game. Game three saw a similar game to game one. The Eagles jumped out early, before Frostburg State cut into the lead. Mary Washington won game three and the match, 25-17.

The Eagles were paced by senior Kaitlynn Wickersham (Midlothian, Va./Manchester) and Alexis Cummings (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan), who each had 10 kills each. Freshman Emma Olson (Oakton, Va./Oakton) had a team high 27 assists and six service aces in the win. 

The Eagles return to action this weekend at Salisbury. The team takes on the Sea Gulls on Friday at 7:00 p.m. Then the Eagles take on Juniata (10:00 a.m.) and Bridgewater (12:00 p.m.) in the Sea Gull Classic on Saturday.
