Fredericksburg, Va.-- The University of Mary Washington women's volleyball team defeated Hood College, 3-0 on Saturday. The Eagles dominated play, finishing up with 42 kills on the day to move to 5-3 on the year.

In game one, the Eagles and Blazers went back and forth early, with the game being tied 4-4 early. The Eagles went on a 6-0 run to make it 10-4, a lead they never gave up.  Hood made it close, but UMW pulled away to win game one 25-17, taking an early 1-0 lead.

Game two saw much of the same, with both teams exchanging points and the score tied at 8-8. A Kayla Crawford (Richmond, Va./Powhatan) kill started a run for the Eagles that let them run away with game two. The Eagles would stretch their lead late, ending game two with a 25-15 win.

The final game saw a hard fought, close battle. A service error by Hood's Hayley Rodgers started the final run for UMW with the score 9-8. The Eagles went on a 6-0 run forcing a Hood timeout.
