Women's Volleyball Falls to Randolph-Macon, 3-0

Fredericksburg, Va.-- The University of Mary Washington women's volleyball team was defeated by Randolph-Macon, 3-0 on Wednesday. 

UMW got out to a quick start in game one, winning the first five points of the game. The rest of the game went back and forth, with both sides exchanging points, till Randolph-Macon took control late to take game one. The Yellow Jackets won game one 25-22. 

The next two games saw much of the same trend. UMW got up quickly in game two, 3-1. Randolph-Macon went on a 9-4 run of their own to make it 10-7, causing an Eagle timeout. The Yellow Jackets took control late to take game two, 25-21. Game three saw Randolph-Macon get out early and not look back as they sealed the victory with a 25-18 game three win. "We battled and worked hard." said head coach Matt Troy about the match. "We need to clean up defensively. Randolph-Macon is a good team. I'm proud of the way our team played against them."

Senior Kaitlynn Wickersham (Midlothian, Va./Manchester) led the team in kills with nine. Junior Kayla Crawford (Rochmond, Va./Powhatan) registered six kills on the day. 

The Eagles return to action on Saturday, September 14th. The Eagles battle Methodist at the Anderson Center. The match with Methodist begins at 4:00 p.m.
