UMW Volleyball Sweeps Frostburg in CAC Tourney First Round

Junior Kaitlynn Wickersham led a balanced attack with 10 kills and seven digs as the University of Mary Washington volleyball team defeated Frostburg State University in three sets on Thursday night in the first round of the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament at the Anderson Center. The Eagles will advance to the CAC Semifinals on Friday night at Salisbury University.

Senior Ellen Smethurst had nine kills and sophomore Kayla Crawford scored seven kills and nine digs for the Eagles, while senior Dana Hinden added six kills. Freshman Maggie Parrish had 19 assists and Courtney Guengerich had 16 for UMW, and Christine Tran had 12 digs. Parrish also added seven service aces.

The Eagles will visit top-seeded Salisbury in the CAC semifinals on Friday at 7 p.m. in UMW's third trip to the Eastern shore of Maryland this year.
