UMW Volleyball Falls Twice at Salisbury Invitional

The University of Mary Washington volleyball team dropped a pair of games on Saturday and two on Sunday at the Salisbury University Invitational against four top opponents. UMW slips to 6-12 on the season.

On Saturday, UMW fell to Richard Stockton College, 3-0, and to SUNY New Paltz, 3-0, and on Sunday, fell to Springfield College, 3-1 and Salisbury University, 3-0.

In the Richard Stockton match, Kayla Crawford had seven digs and Christine Tran five, and Karissa Herrick added two solo blocks. In the New Paltz match, Laura Gomez and Kaitlynn Wickersham each had five kills and Maggie Parrish scored 14 assists.

Against Springfield College, Kayla Crawford had 14 kills and Ellen Smethurst added 10, while Wickersham added 11. Parrish had 25 assists and Courtney Guengerich had 18. Wickerhsam had 24 digs, Christine Tran had 19, and Crawford added 17.

In the finale, Smethurst had five kills, Parrish added nine assists, and Tran recorded eight digs.

The Eagles will return to action on Wednesday when they visit Marymount University in a CAC match starting at 7 p.m.
