UMW Volleyball Sweeps Marymount to Open Anderson Center
The University of Mary Washington volleyball team improved to 5-0 on the season with a 3-0 victory over Marymount University, 25-15, 25-21, 25-14, on Wednesday night in Capital Athletic Conference action in the first ever match at the William M. Anderson Center before 400 fans.

The Eagles were led by junior Laura Gomez (Charlottesville, Va., Albemarle)'s nine kills, senior Tola Adebanjo (Overland Park, Ks., Blue Valley Northwest) 's seven kills and seven digs, and Karissa Herrick (Colts Neck, N.J., Colts Neck) 's six kills and three solo blocks. Senior setter Katie Shiflett (Weyers Cave, Va., Fort Defiance) had 24 assists, Christine Tran (Oakton, Va., Oakton) added three aces, and Emily Shea (Chesapeake, Va., Hickory) led the team with 12 digs.

UMW will return to action on September 13 when they host Randolph-Macon College at 7:00 p.m.
