UMW Volleyball Falls to Carnegie Mellon, Johns Hopkins


The University of Mary Washington volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to Carnegie Mellon University and a 3-0 match at Johns Hopkins University on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles close the regular season with a 16-15 record.

Mary Washington fell to Carnegie Mellon, 25-18, 19-25, 23-25, 22-25. Christine Tran had 20 digs, Kaitlyn Wickersham had 13 kills and 16 digs, junior Ellen Smethurst added 14 kills, and senior Tola Adebanjo scored 10 kills.

The Eagles then fell to Johns Hopkins, 25-19, 25-18, 25-19. In that match, Tran had 10 digs, Wickersham had seven kills, and Karissa Herrick scored six kills.

Mary Washington will host St. Mary's College in the first round of the Capital Athletic Conference tournament on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
