UMW Volleyball Falls at Salisbury in CAC Semifinals

The University of Mary Washington volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision at Salisbury University on Thursday in the semifinals of the Capital Athletic Conference tournament. The Eagles' season comes to a close with a record of 17-16.

The Eagles hung tough in the first, falling 25-21, before falling 25-13 and 25-15. The Eagles played the second two sets without injured starter Karissa Herrick, who had to leave the match with injury late in the first set.

Junior Ellen Smethurst and sophomore Kaitlynn Wickersham each had five kills for the Eagles, while senior Katie Shiflett had 15 assists. Sophomore Christine Tran had 12 digs, and senior Tola Adebanjo had four kills and eight digs.

Salisbury will advance to host the CAC Championship on Saturday.
