UMW Volleyball Splits Pair at Va. Wesleyan

The University of Mary Washington volleyball team split a pair of matches on Saturday at Virginia Wesleyan College, falling to Washington & Lee, 27-25, 25-15, 25-18, before rebounding to top the Marlins, 25-23, 25-19, 25-19. The Eagles are now 13-5 on the season.

In the loss to Washington & Lee, Kaitlynn Wickersham (Midlothian, Va., Manchester) led the Eagles with nine kills and 11 digs, while Tola Adebanjo (Overland Park, Ks., Blue Valley Northwest) and Laura Gomez (Charlottesville, Va., Albemarle) each had six kills. Karissa Herrick (Colts Neck, N.J., Colts Neck) provided three blocks and Emily Shea (Chesapeake, Va., Hickory) had 16 digs.

The Eagles then topped the hosts in three sets, led by Wickersham's 10 kills and 11 digs, Adebanjo's six kills and seven digs, and Shea's nine digs.

Mary Washington will return to action on Wednesday when they host York College at 7 p.m. in a Capital Athletic Conference match.
