UMW Volleyball Drops Pair in California

The University of Mary Washington volleyball team dropped a pair of matches at California Lutheran University on Saturday, falling in four sets to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and then in five sets to Whittier College. The Eagles fall to 15-11 on the season.

In the Eagles' loss to Claremont, set scores were 25-27, 25-17, 25-27, 20-25. Tola Adebanjo had 13 kills and 10 digs while Karissa Herrick added 10 kills and six digs. Christine Tran and Kaitlynn Wickersham had nine digs, and Katie Shiflett had 45 assists.

The Eagles fell in five sets to Whittier, 17-25, 14-25, 25-17, 25-18, 15-9. Wickersham had nine kills and 14 digs, Ellen Smethurst had eight blocks, and Adebanjo added eight kills for UMW.

Mary Washington will return to action on October 20 when they visit Gallaudet University at 7:00 p.m.
