The University of Mary Washington volleyball team topped York College in four sets on Wednesday night at the Anderson Center in Capital Athletic Conference action. Set scores were 25-22, 24-26, 25-23, 25-16. UMW improves to 14-4 overall and 3-1 in CAC play.
The Eagles were led by Laura Gomez (Charlottesville, Va., Albemarle) 's 10 kiills, while Tola Adebanjo (Overland Park, Ks., Blue Valley Northwest) added nine kills, and Karissa Herrick (Colts Neck, N.J., Colts Neck) and Ellen Smethurst (Charlottesville, Va., Covenant School)provided seven kills. Senior setter Katie Shiflett (Weyers Cave, Va., Fort Defiance) had 34 assists and Christine Tran (Oakton, Va., Oakton) added 19 digs for the Eagles. York was led by Jessica Moyer's nine kills and Cortni Rentzel's 28 assists.
Mary Washington will return to action on Friday when they face Salisbury University in the Christopher Newport University Invitational at 5:00 p.m.
