#23 UMW Women's Tennis Falls to #22 Christopher Newport

The 23rd ranked University of Mary Washington women's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to 22nd ranked Christopher Newport University on Saturday afternoon at the UMW Indoor Tennis Center. The Eagles slip to 6-7 on the season.

The Eagles fell behind in doubles, with an 8-1 loss at three, and an 8-5 defeat at one. The number two duo of Emily Beckner and Addison Felts fell in a tiebreaker, 8-7, and UMW advanced to singles, trailing 3-0.

Christopher Newport continued to gain wins in singles. The Eagles overcame first set losses by Beckner at four and Linda Dimitroff at five to force tiebreakers, but the Eagles fell, 10-8, in two tight matches for the 9-0 final.

The Eagles will be back in action on Wednesday when they host North Carolina Wesleyan University at 3:30 p.m.
