The 14th ranked University of Mary Washington women's tennis team defeated #24 Johns Hopkins University, 8-1, on Saturday at the Battleground. The Eagles improve to 10-5 on the season.
The Eagles swept the doubles competition to go up, 3-0. Abby Moghtader and Lauren Quinn defeated Anjali Devireddy and Aya Igaki-Meader at one, 8-3, and Claire Coleman and Amanda Hagino defeated Ali Bader and Emily Javedan, 8-7 (5), at two. At three, Hana Kimmey and Emily Beckner deefated Christina Huynh and Catharina Ausfahl, 8-3.
In singles, Moghtader defeated Devireddy, 6-4, 3-6, 10-3, at one, and Coleman defeated Igaki-Meader at two, 6-3, ret. Quinn topped Huynh at three, 6-4, 6-3, Kimmey defeated Amanda Ruci, 6-1, 6-3, at five, and Beckner downed Zoe Hsieh, 6-3, 6-3, at six.
The Eagles will be back in action on May 7-8 in the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Tournament, hosted at the Battleground.
