The University of Mary Washington women's tennis team competed at the ITA South/Southeast Regional Championships at the Battleground this weekend.
In singles, senior Lauren Quinn had the Eagles' farthest advancement, as she downed Sonia Varma in the first round, 6-1, 6-2, and Bin Zheng in the round of 32, 6-4, 6-4, before falling in the round of 16 to Gabi Moss, 6-2, 6-4.
Abby Moghtader fell to Rachael Fitzgerald in round one, 3-6, 6-0, 7-6 (4), and Amanda Hagino fell, 6-1, 6-1, to Anjali Devereddy. Claire Coleman fell to Jenny Lewis, 6-2, 6-1, and Emily Beckner fell to Alison Bader, 6-0, 6-0. Hana Kimmey fell to Izzy Koziol, 6-1, 6-0, and Riley Smith fell to Margaret Carlton, 6-0, 6-0.
In doubles, Kimmey and Beckner advanced to the quarterfinals by defeating Trante and Yermal, 8-3, and Lackson and Donovan, 8-5, before falling to Desouza and Wandling, 8-4. Moghtader and Quinn advanced to the quarters by topping Moss and Waters, 8-3, and Harris and Anderson, 8-1. They fell to Ghivane and Zhou, 8-7 (5).
Coleman and Hagino advaned to the second round by defeating Chalker and Mikos, 8-2. They then fell to Cornwall and Zheng, 8-2.
