University of Mary Washington sophomore tennis standout Abby Moghtader has been named as the Virginia Lottery Female Student-Athlete of the Month for May, 2021.

Moghtader helped lead the Eagle women's tennis team to the Coast 2 Coast championship in May, and then aided the Eagles' effort in advancing to the NCAA Division III quarterfinals, with victories over Wilkes and Carnegie Mellon in the NCAA Tournament.

She then competed in both the NCAA singles and doubles championships, falling in the first round in singles to third seeded Erika Eckstrand of Williams by a 7-5, 6-2 margin. She and doubles partner Lauren Quinn fell to Zoe Bennett and Jenny Tian of Williams, 7-6 (3), 6-3, in the round of 16.
