UMW Women's Tennis Tops Salisbury, 9-0, on Saturday

The University of Mary Washington women's tennis team blanked Coast 2 Coast Athletic Conference foe Salisbury University, 9-0, on Saturday at the UMW Indoor Tennis Center. The Eagles improve to 10-2 on the season, and remain unbeaten against Division III foes this season at 9-0.

In doubles, Abby Moghtader and Lauren Quinn took an 8-1 win over Veronica Cuellar and Katherine Tamesis, Claire Coleman and Amanda Hagino topped Melanie Williams and Sarah Dover, 8-0, and Hana Kimmey and Olivia Moore stopped Elizabeth Christine and Sarah Cooper, 8-1.

In singles, Coleman topped Cuellar at one, 6-4, 6-4, Moghtader defeated Tamesis, 6-0, 6-0, at two, and Quin bested Dover, 6-2, 6-1, at three. Rachel Cooper defeated Christine, 6-0, 6-0, at four, Sophie Dixon topped Karlie Allen, 6-0, 6-0, at five, and Riley Smith defeated Hannah Carter at six, 6-0, 6-0.

The Eagles will be back in action next weekend as they host the Coast 2 Coast Conference championships that run Thursday-Saturday.
