Hana Kimmey Named C2C Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week

The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the fourth week of the 2021 tennis season. Mary Washington freshman Hana Kimmey earned C2C Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week accolades, while Salisbury senior Patrick MacLean claimed C2C Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week honors.


WOMEN'S TENNIS: Hana Kimmey - Mary Washington

Freshman Hana Kimmey helped Mary Washington to three victories this week, including a key 6-3 win over Washington and Lee University and a 5-2 win over Division I Longwood. She opened the week with a 6-0, 6-1 win at four singles over Isabela Guilarte of Sweet Briar. On Friday at W&L, she defeated Claire Lacksen at six, 6-3, 6-3, and on Saturday at Longwood, she provided a 6-4, 6-2 win at five singles. In doubles action, Kimmey and Olivia Moore raced to 8-1 wins over W&L and Longwood at three doubles to gain early advantages in the team scoring.


MEN'S TENNIS: Patrick MacLean - Salisbury

Senior Patrick MacLean picked up a pair of wins to help Salisbury start off C2C play on a high note with a 9-0 win over St. Mary's on Saturday. MacLean teamed with Stefan Hein to collect an 8-4 win over Stephen Alam and Kier Nacua in No. 1 doubles. MacLean followed the performance with a two-set sweep over Alam in No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-0.

LEAGUE HIGHLIGHTS

Salisbury sophomore Katherine Tamesis earned wins in singles and doubles matches to help the Sea Gulls secure a 9-0 decision over St. Mary's to begin C2C play. The tandem of Tamesis and Veronica Cuellar notched an 8-2 win over Hallie Hershey and Sydney Anderson in No. 1 doubles. In singles, Tamesis recorded a 6-4, 6-0 win over Hannah Gorel in No. 2 singles...In Christopher Newport's lone match of the week, a 9-0 victory over North Carolina Wesleyan, Trate kept up the strong start to her career with a 2-0 performance ... She paired with Amanda Yermal for an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles and then picked up a straight set victory at No. 2 singles with a 6-3, 6-0 final score ... Trate improved to 3-0 in singles action this season with her win over Giulia Zanetti ... Also is now 3-1 in doubles play with Yermal after toppling Stefanie Wilske and Elisa Mariotti...CNU's Alec Strause won both of his matches against Division I Norfolk State in a 5-4 loss to the Spartans ... Paired with Ryan Macy for an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles against Federico Rebecchini and Ignacio Guevel ... Also won at No. 4 singles over Ivan Ivars 6-3, 4-6, 6-3
