UMW Women's Tennis Tops Washington & Lee, 6-3, on Friday

The University of Mary Washington women's tennis team defeated Washington and Lee University, 6-3, on Friday evening in Lexington, Va. The Eagles improve to 4-1 on the season, and 4-0 against Division III competition.

In doubles, UMW started with a flourish, as Abby Moghtader and Lauren Quinn won at one, 8-1; Claire Coleman and Amanda Hagino won at two, 8-5, and Hana Kimmey and Olivia Moore won at three, 8-1.

In singles, the Eagles gained its fourth point as Coleman won after her opponent retired after one point. Kimmey gained the clincher at six, 6-3, 6-3. Moghtader added UMW's sixth point, overcoming a first set loss in a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory at one.

The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday when they visit Division I Longwood University at noon.
