Claire Coleman Named C2C Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week

The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the third week of the 2021 tennis season. Mary Washington junior Claire Coleman earned C2C Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week accolades, while Christopher Newport sophomore Alec Strause claimed C2C Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week honors.


WOMEN'S TENNIS: Claire Coleman - Mary Washington

Claire Coleman picked up a pair of singles victories as Mary Washington split its two matches this week with George Mason and N.C. Wesleyan. She scored a 6-3, 2-6, 10-2 victory at two singles in the Eagles' 4-3 loss at George Mason on Friday, and netted a third set super breaker win at two on Sunday, 6-4, 2-6, 10-4, in the Eagles' 8-1 win over the Bishops. She was also victorious at two doubles on Sunday, teaming with Amanda Hagino for an 8-0 win.


MEN'S TENNIS: Alec Strause - Christopher Newport

Sophomore Alec Strause won both of his matches to help Christopher Newport topple No. 32 Washington & Lee in the Captains only action this week. Strause paired with Ryan Macy for an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles and then captured a straight set victory at No. 4 singles. He defeated Harry Kittredge and Connor Coleman on the top line of doubles (8-3) and Kittredge again in singles (6-4, 6-4).
