#15 UMW Women's Tennis Falls to Johns Hopkins, 5-1, in NCAA Tourney 2nd Round

The 15th ranked University of Mary Washington women's tennis team saw its season come to an end in a 5-1 loss to Johns Hopkins University on Saturday at the Indoor Tennis Center. The Eagles close the year with a record of 20-5.

The Blue Jays started strong, sweeping all three doubles matches, winning at one, 8-3; at two, 8-5; and at three, 8-0. In singles, Johns Hopkins gained their fourth point at four singles, before freshman Claire Coleman picked UMW's point at two, by winning 6-3, 7-5. The Blue Jays followed with a win at five to claim the match.

The Eagles claimed the first set in two of the three unfinished matches, and were ahead in the second in both.

Rachel Summers and Lauren Quinn will advance to represent the Eagles at the NCAA singles and doubles championships in Kalamazoo, Mich. next week.
