#12 UMW Women’s Tennis Tops #24 CNU, 8-1, on Saturday

The twelfth ranked University of Mary Washington women's tennis team topped twenty-fourth ranked Christopher Newport University, 8-1, on Saturday afternoon in Newports News, Va. The Eagles improve to 12-2 overall, and 3-0 in the CAC.

UMW opened the match by sweeping the doubles matches. Lauren Quinn and Rachel Summers won at one doubles 8-3, Claire Coleman and Danielle Mirabella won at two doubles 8-6, and Sophie Dixson and Olivia Moore won at three doubles 8-2.

In singles action, Summers won at one singles 6-1, 2-6, 10-5. Coleman also played a three-setter at two singles as she won 5-7, 7-6, 10-6. Quinn won at three singles 6-3, 6-3 and Mirabella won 6-4, 6-1 at four singles. Cooper took the win at six singles 6-1, 6-0. CNU won at five singles 7-5, 6-4.

The Eagles will be back in action as they will travel to York and Penn St.-Harrisburg on Friday afternoon.
