FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Mary Washington freshman Claire Coleman & Southern Virginia junior Kukutla Motlojoa earned CAC Tennis Player of the Week for March 26, 2019.

Mary Washington freshman Claire Coleman turned in a perfect weekend as #19 Mary Washington went 4-0. She won all four of her singles matches, topping Southern Virginia and Frostburg at one and TCNJ and #36 Wisconsin Whitewater at two, all in straight sets. She also teamed with Danielle Mirabella to go 4-0 in doubles play, as the Eagles improved to 11-2 and improve their win streak to five.

In a busy week for Knights tennis, Southern Virginia junior Kukutla Motlojoa went undefeated going a combined 7-0 on the week. He went 4-0 in doubles while going 3-0 in singles. Motlojoa started the week against Hampden-Sydney where he won No. 1 doubles 8-4 and later No. 1 singles 6-3, 6-1. Next was CAC play defeating No. 2 doubles from Frostburg State 8-1, and later in the day took down St. Mary's (Md.) 6-2 in No. 1 doubles and No. 2 singles 6-0, 6-0. He finished off his week against the ranked University of Mary Washington Eagles winning No. 1 doubles 8-6 and then No. 2 singles 6-1, 7-5. This marks the second straight week Motlojoa has earned this award.

Christopher Newport's Johanna Ranta-aho won all four matches at No. 1 singles and doubles to help lead CNU to a pair of 9-0 conference shutouts ... Defeated Sydney Nye (6-1, 6-1) at No. 1 singles and paired with Olivia Reed to beat Nye/Courtney Bennett (8-0) vs. Penn State Harrisburg ... Added wins over Rachel Wagner (6-1, 6-1) and with Reed against Wagner/Gina Liguori (8-1) versus York ... Eclipsed 50 career victories in her third season, improving to 51-15 in singles play...Salisbury's Ian Siew earned a pair of singles wins at No. 2 and went 1-1 at No. 1 doubles during Salisbury's final two matches of its spring break trip to California. Against Cal Lutheran, Siew picked up an 8-7 (7-5) win in doubles with partner Colt Williamson, while winning in three sets 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles. In a 5-4 win against Occidental, Siew fell in doubles action, 8-4, but was able to claim the deciding point in singles play, winning again in three sets 2-6, 6-4, 6-2...Mary Washington's Cole Tecce went a perfect 4-0 in singles play this weekend, as #13 Mary Washington went undefeated on the weekend. He defeated Ben Echberdt of #23 Bates, 6-3, 6-4, at six on Friday, before topping Zachary Bowers of Southern Va. (6-0, 6-1) and Thomas Wright of TCNJ (7-5, 6-3) on Saturday. He capped his weekend with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Zach Wood in the Eagles' win over Wisconsin-Whitewater on Sunday. He also picked up a doubles win over Southern Va., 8-3...Frostburg's Nate Farlow opened his home spring schedule with two wins over McDaniel last week ... He won No. 2 singles and combined with senior Shasta Braithwaite for a win at No. 1 doubles...Vs. Penn State Harrisburg - Won at no. 1 singles over Sachin Venkatesh (6-0, 6-1); Christopher Newport's Andy Mason - vs. York - Won at No. 1 doubles with Ryan Macy over Sam Innerst/Joel Hess (8-0) ... Won at No. 2 singles over Hess (6-0, 6-0); Vs. Chowan - Clinched match with singles win at No. 2 over Mariano Yeh (6-7 (6), 7-6 (5), 6-2)...Frostburg's Shea Przywieczerski collected four wins last week including a No. 6 singles win and a No. 2 doubles victory over St. Mary's...Salisbury's Laura Brown earned two wins in Salisbury's 6-3 victory during its spring break trip to California last week -- a 6-3 win at Occidental. Brown earned an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles with playing partner Taylor Cooper. In singles play, Brown earned a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 2 helping Salisbury to the win. In the Sea Gulls' other match of the week, Brown and Cooper fell 8-5 in doubles play against Cal Lutheran. She lost 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.
