#19 UMW Women’s Tennis Tops Frostburg State, Wisconsin Whitewater on Sunday

The nineteenth-ranked University of Mary Washington women's tennis team topped Frostburg State University and the University of Wisconsin Whitewater on Sunday afternoon in Fredericksburg, VA. The Eagles defeated FSU, 9-0, and then downed Wisconsin Whitewater, 8-1. UMW improves to 11-2 overall, and 2-0 in the CAC.

Against FSU, the Eagles won all three doubles points by not losing a single game. Rachel Summers and Lauren Quinn won at won doubles 8-0, Daniella Mirabella and Claire Coleman won at two doubles 8-0, and Rachel Cooper and Emily Bowerman won at three doubles 8-0.

In singles action, Coleman won at one 6-0, 6-0. Mirabella, Sophie Dixon, and Rachel Cooper won at the 2, 3, and 4 spots all with a score of 6-0, 6-0. Olivia Moore won at five singles 6-1, 6-0, and Emily Bowerman closed out the match with a 6-0, 6-0 win.

UMW kept it going in the second match against Wisconsin Whitewater as they won all three doubles points. All three doubles teams won starting with Quinn and Summers winning at one 8-4, Coleman and Mirabella winning at two 8-1, and Dixon and Moore winning at three 8-4.

Dixon clinched the first win in singles action as she won 6-0, 6-0 at the five spot. Quinn then won at two singles 6-2, 6-4 and then Coleman clinched the match as she won at two singles 6-4, 6-2. Cooper won at six singles 6-2, 6-3 and Mirabella won at four singles 6-4, 6-4. Wisconsin Whitewater got their lone win at one singles winning 7-6 (2), 6-4.

UMW will be back in action on Saturday as they will travel to in-state rival CNU at 11 a.m.
