The 17th ranked University of Mary Washington women's tennis team defeated Chapman University, 6-3, on Tuesday afternoon in California. The Eagles improve to 3-0 on the season.

In doubles, the Eagles picked up wins from Rachel Summers and Lauren Quinn at one, 8-4, and from Danielle Mirabella and Claire Coleman, 8-1, at two.

In singles, UMW swept the bottom four matches. Quinn won at three, 6-3, 4-6, 10-6, and Mirabella won at four, 6-1, 6-2. Sophie Dixon was victorious at five, 6-1, 6-0, and Rachel Cooper won at six, 6-0, 6-0.

The Eagles will continue in California on Thursday when they visit the University of Redlands at 5 p.m.
