#19 UMW Women’s Tennis Downs #15 Washington & Lee, 5-4, on Saturday

The nineteenth-ranked University of Mary Washington women's tennis team defeated fifteenth-ranked Washington & Lee University, 5-4, on Saturday afternoon in Lexington, Va. UMW improves to 17-4 overall. Head Coach Patrick Catullo picks up his 250th career win.

In doubles action, UMW took a 2-1 lead as they were able to get two wins at one and two. At one doubles Ashley Barrow and Kait Brogan won 8-2, while Caroline Mosberg and Rachel Summers were able to squeak out an 8-7 (7-4) win at two doubles. The Generals won at three doubles 8-3.

The two teams each took three matches in singles action as all of the matches were very close. Summers won at two singles 6-3, 5-0 (Retired); Hannah Jabusch won at three singles 7-6 (7-4), 6-3; and Danielle Mirabella won at five singles 3-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3. Washington & Lee won at one singles 6-3, 6-4; four singles 6-1, 7-5; and six singles 6-0, 6-2.

The Eagles will be back in action on Tuesday as they host York in the CAC tournament semifinals at a time TBA.
