#19 UMW Women’s Tennis Falls to #9 Carnegie Mellon, 5-4, on Saturday

The nineteenth-ranked University of Mary Washington women's tennis team was defeated, 5-4, to ninth-ranked Carnegie Mellon University on Saturday afternoon in Fredericksburg, Va. UMW slips to 10-4 overall. 

In doubles action, Carnegie Mellon took two out of the three matches. Kait Brogan and Ashley Barrow secured the lone win in doubles 8-7 (7-5). The Tartans took two doubles 8-4, and three doubles 8-3.

In singles action, the two teams split the six matches that were played. For UMW, Rachel Summers won at two singles 6-3, 7-6 (7-5); Hannah Jabusch won at four singles 7-6 (7-4), 3-6, 6-3; Danielle Mirabella won at five singles 2-6, 6-2, 6-2. Carnegie Mellon won at one singles 6-4, 6-4; three singles 6-3, 6-4; and they clinched the match at six singles 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.

UMW will be back in action Tuesday as they will travel to Southern Virginia for a match that begins at 3 p.m.
