The sixteenth-ranked University of Mary Washington women's tennis team was defeated, 6-3, by Case Western Reserve University on Saturday afternoon in Fredericksburg, Va. The Eagles slip to 6-2 on the season.
In doubles action, UMW earned one point as Ashley Barrow and Kait Brogan won an intense match 8-7 (7-4) at number one doubles. UMW came close in two doubles but fell 8-7 and lost in three doubles, 8-2.
In singles action, Danielle Mirabella won at number five 6-0, 6-4; and Rachel Summers won at two, 6-2, 6-4. Case Western won at one singles 6-1, 7-6; at three 6-3, 6-2; at four 6-4, 6-4; and at six 6-3, 6-0.
UMW will be back in action on Sunday as they host Skidmore at 8 a.m. as part of the Blue-Grey Invitational.
